4-H Show Committee Overview

A committee of the Minnesota State 4-H Dog Project

Purpose: The purpose of the Show Committee is to coordinate the State 4-H Dog Show.
Areas of Authority: The Show Committee has the authority to:
  • serve as the Leadership Team for the State Dog Show.
  • propose quotas for the State Dog Show.
  • set guidelines and policy for the State Dog Show.
  • set guidelines and policies for financial accountability for the State Dog Show.
  • enforce rules at the State Dog Show.
  • resolve conflicts that arise at the State Dog Show.
Membership: The Show Committee Membership - those with voting privileges - is made up of the following individuals
  • Overall Show Coordinator
  • Facilities Coordinator
  • Registration and Results Coordinator
  • Exercise Area and Clean-Up Patrol/Prizes Coordinator
  • Awards and Publicity Coordinator
  • Agility Coordinator
  • Obedience and Showmanship Coordinator
  • A representative from the Center for 4-H Youth Development
The Overall Show Coordinator will chair this committee.  From the above listed membership a Vice Chair and Secretary will be selected.
Selection: The above members are selected and appointed by the PDC.
Meetings: The Show Committee will meet at least twice a year - more if needed.  Once in late spring/early summer to prepare for the State Dog Show.  Again in early winter to evaluate.  Meeting dates will be announced on the PDC e-mail list prior to their occurrence.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Show Committee include:
  • maintain a high quality State Dog Show
  • coordinate awards for the State Dog Show
  • order armbands, awards, and other supplies for the State Dog Show
  • hire Judges for the State Dog Show
  • oversee the State Dog Show working committees
  • maintain "How To" handbook for the State Dog Show Coordinators
  • update yearly State Dog Show Registration Information
