Meeting called to order at 10:45 a.m. by Cathy Seinmetz, PDC Chair.  Everyone present introduced themselves.

Secretary's Report
M/S/C (Vicky/Marlene) to accept the minutes of the March 23, 2001 meeting as printed.

Treasurer's Report - Karl R.
Karl reported that there is $7,876.91 in the checking.  Only one expenditure since January 1.  We spent $130.93 on the laminator for the agility height cards.

Standing Committee Reports

Agility - Karl R.
M/S/C  (Karl R./Karl O.) to accept the agility committee's recommendation to offer plaques for both mini & open in all five agility classes at the state show regardless of number of entries in each class and the PDC gives the show committee the authority to make the final decision on whether or not to proceed in this manner.

Finance - Karl R.
Building rental is continuing to rise, we need to think long term and be cautious about rental.  No other report was given.

Judges Certification - Leona
The Committee met on April 29 and presesnted the following at today's meeting:
Judges Certification Process
Application - including a statement of why you wish to become a judge, experiences working with youth, experiences in the specific area (showmanship, obedience, agility) being applied for, previous experience  as a judge, and other related experience with dogs.
Attendance at a judges seminar in the area being requested.  The seminar includes a classroom component, and a hands-on, practical component.
Passing interview, to be held at the judges' seminar.
A written test over the rules for the specific area (obedience, showmanship, agility) being certified in.  The test will be open book, and mailed to the applicants approximately two weeks in advance of the seminar for which they have registered, to be turned in at the seminar.  A passing score of 80% is required.
One to Three apprenticeships (the number to be determined by the senior judge who is supervising) based on the outcome of the apprenticeship, OR an observed judging assignment, evaluated by a senior judge.
Must be 20 years old.

Obedience & Showmanship Judges Seminar - The goal is to hold a judges seminar in October.  Leona is working on a location therefore the date is pending.

Obedience/Showmanship - Marlene
The committee meet on April 29 in St. Cloud

Obedience Class Standards:
Pre-beginner class was discussed.  Not eligible for Regional Dog Show.  No age guidelines.  Emphasis will be on care.  This could be started in 2002.  Committee will continue to work on this.

The following changes were presented:
Beginner A & B
Stand for exam - stand in front rather than 6 feet away
Recall - step finish
M/Fail lack of second  (Cathy/ ) to accept the changes as presented.
The PDC recommends Beginner A & B class standard should be left the way it is on the scoresheet.

Graduate Beginner - No changes

Novice - No changes

Graduate Novice
Change drop on recall to a moving drop
Changes regarding willing retrieve from hand to include dog actually moving to get dumbbell
Change Out of sit - long sit 1 minute; long dog 3 minutes

Pre Open
Change stand for exam - moving stand
Change willing retrievel from hand - dumbbell recall
Change broad jump - recall over broad jump

Open - None

Graduate Open
Shorter distance in the signal exercise
Take out retrieve on flat and retrieve for one metal and one leather
Directed retrieve is a shorter distance
Group exam to the moving stand
 
Pre Utility
Signal exercise at full distance
Low level scent discrimination both leather and metal
Directed Retrieve 2 gloves moving stand
Directed jumping - heel out
Moving Stand

Utility - No changes

M/S/C (Laurie/Karl O) to accept the rough draft of the proposed changes Graduate Beginner through Utility as presented.

Brace issued was discussed.  Issues regarding borrowing dogs needs to be clarified.

Show - Laurie
Reminder about the donation for the plaques
Reminder about show responsibilities for the State Show.
 

Other Committees

Supersession -
Very few registrations at first, now coming in strong.

Regional Show Reports
North - Septmeber 22 ~ Hubbard County will host.
Central - September 29 ~ McLoed County will host.
South - September 29 ~ Freeborn County will host.

State Show Report
October 19 - Agility Show
October 20 - Showmanship & Obedience
St. Cloud State University is confirmed.  Brad is waiting for a reply on the foodstand (do they have to do it vs. can we do it).
 

Other

There was a discussion about the Dog Identification and Vaccination Certification form  There are some county conflicts with the due date of the Identification and Vaccination Certification.
