The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Jason Prasch at 10:40 a.m.  Introductions were made.  Districts met to discuss issues they wanted to have presented.

District Update

Secretary's Report
M/S/C (Laurie/Jeff) to accept the minutes of the November 11, 2001 meeting as printed.

Treasurer's Report -Karl
Karl reported that there is $8007.84 in the checking.  All the Regionals made a profit as did the state show.

Standing Committee Reports

Agility  - Karl O.
Tire size change did not make it in to the Agility Rulebook.  Since it did not get into the rulebook it will need to stay the same for 2-3 years until the rulebook will be redone.

Finance - Karl R.
Karl will put together a history of what the finances related to the Shows, Supersession and Judges Training so that a projection for a budget may be made.

Judges Certification - Jeff
Nothing happened last fall.  Committee meeting  will be held  April 29 at St. Cloud.  The last judges list is from 1998.  Tammy reminded the Judges committee that Brad is requiring a written process that will indicate how people will be certified.  This committee needs to present  a written statement on how a person becomes a judge.  A youth development piece must be included in the certification process.   It was suggested that Brad give them an outline of what he expects the training plan should look like.
M/S/C (Rhonda/Karl) The Center for 4-H Youth Development will give the subcommittee some direction as to what the process should be

M/S/C (Leona/Rhonda) to have the committee ask Ruth Foster and Donna Sonnek for certified judged and senior judge openings -  if either of them decline, ask Kathy Francis.

Obedience/Showmanship
The committee will meet on April 29

Show - Laurie
M/S/C  (Leona/Karl) to accept the State Show Awards System as presented (see attachment).

Distribution of Responsibilities sign up form was passed out to each of the districts.  A contact person's name was added.  Planning sheets were handed out to the contact person.

In regard to paying a stipend for volunteers bringing equipment to the State Show:  the show committee recommends not giving a stipend for showmanship/obedience rings and that the agility committee determine a policy for giving a stipend for the agility equipment only.
 

Other Committees

Project Bowl - Tammy
A coordinator is needed for the State Project Bowl.  This person will be a member of the state committee and cannot be a coach.  Project Bowl is the 2nd largest Minnesota 4-H State event  State Fair being the largest.  Marlene Keller volunteered to be the coordinator beginning in 2002.  Kelly Edgar writes the questions.  Judges and moderators are still needed for this year as well as a volunteer to coordinate the state dog bowl on April 7.   Future Dog, Breeding for Genetic Soundness is a book that may be added as a reference for the 2002 senior dog bowl.

Supersession - Jeff
Sandie McMaines has been doing most of the work.  Information will be on the web for counties to download.  Dates are June 15, 16, 17 in Barnsville.

State Fair Dog Project Activities and Demonstrations - Tammy
No one volunteered at this point
Tammy will contact Karen Loken about coordinating this, however, if she will not, it will be dropped.

Regional Show Reports
South - September 29 - Albert Lea City Arena
Central - Possibly in Hutchinson with McLeod County coordinating
North - Hubbard County will host.

Brad will be sending out a survey in regards to the regional dog shows, with results back for decision making at the June Meeting.

Other
Rally Obedience - Leona told a little about it.  Someday it could maybe be added to the state show as just fun.  Scoresheet could be modified to fit 4-H.
