Science, Technology Engineering & Math projects

Aquatic Robotics

Learn science, engineering, technology and math skills to design and build your own remote-operated vehicle, then adapt it to monitor the water quality of Minnesota's rivers, lakes and streams.

Robotics

Use science, math, engineering and technology to design, build and program a robot.

Geospatial

Learn about navigational tools - GIS and GPS - and orienteering

Aerospace

Learn about the science of flight. Build a rocket, airplane or hot air balloon.

Computers

Learn about building and maintaining computers, software and the internet.

Video

Learn about video production and filmmaking, including composition, camera and lighting techniques, and editing.

Photography

Learn about equipment, lighting and flash techniques, photo composition, and evaluating photographs.

Electric

Build circuits and test voltages. Learn about wiring, lighting, and safety issues.

Small engines

Learn about building and maintenance, tools, rules and regulations, safety issues, and careers.

Tractors

Learn about maintenance, restoration and operation, fuels, hydraulic and electrical systems, and safety.

Shop-wood & metal

Learn techniques and skills to use routers, joiners, table saws, tape measures, drills and more.

Bicycle

Learn how to choose a bike, bike maintenance and repair, and road rules to make riding safe and fun.

Power of the Wind

Explore wind as an energy source as you design, build, and test wind-powered devices!

Water & wetlands

Learn about ecosystems, water quality and the lives that depend on the state's wetlands - including our own.

Wildlife biology

Learn about wildlife populations and habitats, and how to become a good steward of the land.

Plant & soil science

Learn about parts of a plant, photosynthesis, cross-pollination, soil, erosion and more.

Geology

Study lakes, aquifers, caves, streams, iron deposits, rocks, and fossils.

Entomology

Learn about insect collecting, experiments, research and careers.

Crop science

Learn about Minnesota crops, soil fertility, weed and insect pests, food storage and business.

Cloverbuds

4-H Cloverbuds explore and learn about the world in a non-competitive environment by doing fun activities with the guidance of parents or other adult helpers.

Animal science

Love animals? Learn about selecting, feeding, managing, caring for, judging, training and showing animals.

Self-determined

If you find that no single project is quite right for you, you can develop your own project. Be your own researcher, scientist, artist, communicator, and evaluator. Ask your local 4-H leader or Extension staff for resources to help create your own project area.
