|Development||\\ext-webext-dev.ad.umn.edu\wwwsites\DEV-Extension||The development server is where you should do all of your web development. It is not viewable by the public.|
|WWW||\\18.104.22.168\extension||This is the "old" live server. It hosts everything that is live except sites/pages beginning with www1, such as Master Gardener, Dairy, and Food Safety.|
|WWW1||No direct access||This is the "new" live server. It hosts Master Gardener, Dairy, Food Safety, and About, etc; URLs begin www1.extension...|
Requesting access to servers from IT
Please submit a help ticket using the online form or by calling 612-624-6700.
Request that you be given access to create pages on the Extension Development Web Server (\\ext-webext-dev.ad.umn.edu\wwwsites\DEV-Extension).
Setting up Dreamweaver
From the Manage Sites window, click New.
Assign Extension Dev as the Site Name. Then, browse to the extension dev folder you created earlier and select it.
Click Servers on the left column. Then click the plus icon to add a new server.
Enter the information below:
Site Name: Extension Dev
Connect using: Local/Network
Server folder: \\ext-webext-dev.ad.umn.edu\wwwsites (You can also browse to it to ensure you are connected.)
Web URL: http://dev.extension.umn.edu/
Click the Advanced tab and enable Check-in/Check-out as you did before.
Click Save and then Save again and then Done. You're ready to start working with files!
Publishing to the live server
- Either in Windows Explorer or Dreamweaver (Remote Server view), right-click on the Publish.txt file and choose "Copy"
Paste the file into the home folder of the site you made the update to (e.g., /food/food-safety/ or /garden/master-gardener).
- It may take a few minutes for the live page to update.
Excluding files from the publish job
