Manure Application Timing

This publication describes the results of 12 site-years of research on-farm and on-station in Southern Minnesota. The goal of the experiments was to determine the best time to apply liquid swine manure to corn to maximize crop yields and minimize nitrogen (N) losses. (258 K PDF)

Grid Soil Sampling for Manure Application

Case studies shown here compare strategies for applying manure with the assistance of grid soil sampling of crop fields. The economic value of manure is compared using whole-field versus zonal application methods on farms with a range of manure and livestock types. Risk of nutrient loss to runoff for the application alternatives is also evaluated.
